Cranes are designed to meet an operational criteria and are designed for a specific design limit to ensure that the operational requirements are met. During the life of a crane, operational requirements may change , the crane may undergo overhauls or incidents may occur resulting in deviations to the initial expected useful life. In some cases the operational requirements remain the same and no incidents occur, but the useful life and condition of the crane must be known (and quantified).
Solution
CrEng offers the service of conducting Useful life and Condition Assessments (i.e. 10 Yearly Major Inspection) in accordance with the relevant SANS, BS & FEM standards using a team of expert engineers, project managers and LMI’s.
Outcome
The Useful Life Assessments provide detailed and/or theoretical remaining useful life for the cranes. The safe working periods of the crane are meticulously calculated to provide the required dates of mechanism overhauls. In addition, defects, non-standard items and safety requirements are brought to the clients attention with a solution within the reports. A legal compliance audit is conducted in alignment with OHSA & MHSA as part of the assessments to align the current company procedures, maintenance practices with Legislation and Standards.
